Amongst most online buyers and shoppers there is always the idea of perceived value. In recent years any product coming out of China (estimated at 60% of global goods) had a perceived value of zero, regarded as junk. Knife collectors and users are no different and they have high expectations combined with fanatic brand loyalty If 2 or 3 years ago you mentioned SanRenMu or Enlan or Bee then most knife nuts would be scratching their heads. Now these names and the knives they produce are mentioned in the same breath as Chris Reeves, Sebenza, Benchmade and Spyderco. They deliver high quality knives at stunningly low prices. The various models they produce such as the SanRenMu flagship knife, the 710, are rapidly gaining huge following in the knife user community. Deservedly so as they deliver high performance and attention detail at such a low price point. This caused some consternation amongst established knife manufacturers, especially in the US although some companies are actually approaching SanRenMu and other companies in the region to manufacture for the own in-house product lines. Is this a major shift in the Chinese business model? Possibly not but it is a real example of what companies such as SanRenMu and suppliers like Exduct can really do when you accept that quality is a requirement not an option – no matter what your price is.
